The qualifying factor in UAE is this: UAE water hardness deposits limescale inside a tankless heater's heat exchanger at the same rate it does in a tank heater. Without annual descaling, a tankless heater's heat exchanger scale-blocks within 2–4 years, causing the unit to error-code and shut off. Sizing is the most critical factor in UAE tankless water heater performance. A tankless heater must have sufficient power (kilowatts for electric, BTU for gas) to heat the incoming water to the required output temperature at the maximum simultaneous demand flow rate.
