The UAE climate imposes demands on painted surfaces that most paint formulations are not designed to meet. Exterior surfaces face UV radiation that bleaches pigment and breaks down binder chemistry — creating the chalky, faded appearance common on UAE buildings after just a few years.

Thermal cycling between the extreme outdoor heat and the temperature of air-conditioned interiors causes paint films to expand and contract repeatedly, leading to cracking and delamination far faster than in temperate climates. Selecting the right paint for UAE conditions directly determines how long the finish lasts.

Interior painting in the UAE also presents specific challenges. Bathrooms and kitchens in sealed, humid environments experience severe moisture cycling that causes standard emulsion paints to peel, bubble and harbour mold at joints.

The hard, calcite-heavy dust that penetrates UAE homes requires thorough surface preparation before any new paint will bond properly. Hairline cracks from thermal movement need flexible filler — products that accommodate movement — or the cracks reappear through the new coat within months.

Our painting teams begin every job with surface preparation — the step that determines 80% of how the finished result looks and lasts. This means filling all cracks with flexible filler, skim-coating uneven surfaces to achieve a smooth base, sanding back any peeling paint to a firm edge, and applying the appropriate primer for the surface type and subsequent paint.

Only then does the topcoat go on, in the correct number of coats at the correct application rate. The difference between a paint job that looks great for years and one that looks tired within 12 months is almost entirely in the preparation.
